Each month we get an interior expert to share with you their tips for trend-focused lighting, this month lighting editor Jessica from magazine Elle Decoration waxes lyrical about copper lights.
"As a magazine editor it's my job to stay ahead of the trends, of course it's no good just blindly following them - you have to make them work for you in your home. Metallics are great for a number of reasons. They're neutral so you can add in a metal to most colour schemes, they also look expensive, but you can source really inexpensive shades and lamps and still achieve that luxe look.
Below are 9 stunning copper lighting ideas but here are my ultimate rules for using copper lights in your home:
1. Copper is a very warm colour so avoid teaming with yellow woods like pine. Pair with ashy woods or beech for a chic look.
2. Round hanging lights always look good.
3. Try hanging two or three together at different lengths for a stylish statement.
4. Tie in the lights to the rest of your room by adding in other copper ornaments such as candlesticks, side tables or hammered copper bowls.
5. Have fun and experiment! It's just lighting, which means you can switch it up anytime. I like to swap fixtures between different rooms in my house so I can constantly refresh their look."
